After the tragic events of Mount Natagumo, which involved the deaths of many low ranked Demon Slayer Corps members, a decision was made that everyone below the rank of Tsuchinoto should be re-evaluated in terms of their abilities to serve as Demon Slayers.

Every low ranked member was tasked to participate in special training sessions that were to be conducted by each of the Hashira. Only after those training sessions were over and each of the Hashira would give their approval, a low ranked member would be able to resume their work.

Each Hashira was given instructions as to what kind of training they were supposed to conduct. As for Kanroji, she was tasked to test and train the willpower of the trainees, in order to make sure they were prepared to face demons that used seduction as one of their tactics.
